We knew we belonged to him as soon as we saw his picture on the rescue website. His tail was wagging from the moment we picked him up in January, 2004, until the moment he left us in early June, 2014. That wonderful, wagging tail never stopped, no matter what. He had so much love to share with everyone. He was so sweet and gentle, silly and goofy, very brave and full of life. He loved to cuddle and carry his soft toys by the tip of an arm or ear. He had big, curly ears and whiskers that would tickle when he’d nuzzle up close. He would chase a ball, but wouldn’t bring it back. He would get down on his elbows and then speed around the yard. He would give a random lick on a leg as he walked by and he loved big, soft, lumpy beds for napping. He loved to swing on the porch swing, even if no one else was on it. He loved walks in the tall grass and his tail would point straight out when he saw a bird. He didn’t like to swim, but loved to float on an air mattress in a kiddie pool. He had a happy jog and always seemed to be smiling. He loved his almost lifelong best friend, Woody and Woody loved him right back. The two were always together curled up on a bed, content and happy. They would nuzzle each other and always look for the other to keep up. We miss Cooper’s presence in our family. We miss his wagging tail and sweet, sweet face. He has taken a piece of our hearts with him forever, and left us with part of his in return. Our lives are better, richer, fuller, happier, sillier and sweeter because of our boy. We are grateful for his love and companionship, we are thankful for his journey into our lives and we are so very privileged to have belonged to him, with his big, loving heart wrapped up in that wagging tail. Sweet Cooper, you were loved.
