Did you know that June 20th is Take Your Cat To Work Day? For many of you, this is probably going to sound better in theory than in practice. Fluffy would probably complain all the way to your workplace and all the way home. Of course, if you are one of the rapidly-increasing numbers of people that are now working from home, you may already work with your feline pal every day. Fluffy may be an adorable co-worker, but she can also wreak kitty havoc. A Fort Collins, CO vet offers some advice on this below.
Desk Box
Kitties of course love to be right beside their humans at all times. Fluffy likes to keep a close eye on you! She also likes to find warm places to nap … like your computer. One way to keep your furball off of your keyboard? Put a box on your desk. Many Amazon boxes are great for this type of ‘repurrposing.’
Stress Relief
Work getting to you? There’s a lot to be said for being able to reach out and pet a purring cat in the middle of a busy day. One of Fluffy’s best job qualifications is her ability to relax and comfort her humans. Our feline pals are certainly masters of the art of zen!
Screen Lock
We may not have figured out all of the rules our feline friends live by, but we do know that they operate in accordance with Murphy’s (cat’s) Law. If there is a way for Fluffy to create some chaos, she’ll do it. In this case, one of the things you’ll need to watch for is your furball walking over your computer keyboard. One thing that can help with this? Set your screen lock to something short, such as 30 seconds. You may still walk away and come back to find your furball sitting on your computer, looking smug, but at least this way, your kitty only has a few seconds to mess things up. (The autosave feature can also come in handy here.)
Zoom
Love it or hate it, it’s probably safe to say that Zoom meetings aren’t going away anytime soon. Cats definitely make any meeting better. Fluffy is always willing to charm your boss or co-workers!
