Things Your Cat Will Do Over the Holidays

December 1, 2020

The holidays are officially upon us! While many celebrations may be cancelled, postponed, or scaled down, we’ll still see plenty of our favorite seasonal traditions. Of course, our feline friends also have a few traditions of their own. A Fort Collins, CO vet lists some of Fluffy’s cuter plans in this article.

Help With Giftwrapping

Kitties are very grateful for the love, care, treats, beds, toys, lap space, food, litterboxes, and attention we give them. Fluffy may try to show her appreciation by ‘assisting’ as you wrap gifts.

Supervise Cooking

Our feline pals love to keep a close eye on their humans. Fluffy will supervise you quite closely as you start preparing those delicious holiday meals. Bolder kitties may also try to cajole you into sharing. It’s fine to give your furball a treat, but stick with safe options, like plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat.

Dream Of Sugarplums (Or Mice)

No matter what time of year it is, Fluffy will dutifully make time for at least a dozen daily naps. If you put a tree up, your kitty will probably test out its potential as a napping spot.

Bat At Ornaments

Cats are very feisty and playful, which is something we love about them. Of course, Fluffy’s frisky streak can cause some problems at this time of year. Many kitties view trees as giant cat towers hung with shiny toys, and just can’t resist wreaking some havoc. (Tip: secure the treetop to the ceiling with fishing line, and hang just a few unbreakable ornaments on the bottom.)

Jump Into Boxes

One of Fluffy’s cuter quirks is her obsession with boxes. It doesn’t matter how big the box is: cats just can’t resist a new hidey-hole. Give your pet some empty boxes and gift bags once everyone has opened their gifts.

Pose For Photos

We love seeing pictures of our patients! Fluffy is very photogenic, and takes some super cute holiday photos. Snap a few pics of your furry buddy.

Snuggle

Many of our feline companions are very affectionate, and love to snuggle up with their humans. Enjoy some quiet time at home during the season, and let Fluffy snooze on your lap if she likes.

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Moore Animal Hospital, your Fort Collins, CO animal clinic. Contact us anytime!
